A friend directed me to a great entry on John K's blog and while I was reading it, I scratched out a few cartoony things.

A few days before that I just felt like drawing a guy in a cape and a wool sweater. His name, for now, is Kerboom Lad. I think the thing I like the most is the work related notes mucking up the drawrings, so I left them in, naturally.

My friend Tweedlebop did some zombies the other day and while I was sitting at work I ended up doodling some of my own. See, it's like that cartoon; didja ever see it? There's this little dog and a great, big bulldog named Spike. The little dog (I can't remember his name) worships the big dog and hops around sayin' things like, "Spike is my hero because he's so big and strong! Yeah!" and the big dog goes, "Shaddap", and gives him a backhanded smack. Sometimes, see, when it comes to art I am like the little dog and Tweeds is the big dog who inspires to me to do a doodle with some particularly snazzy bit of creativity of his own (you can find a link to his blog to the right, young sportsman), but just as it applies to art. Oh, and music, too...

...Oh! And he knows all this cool shit about pop culture and aluminum Christmas trees and finds all the best BBC drunken shitheel sitcoms and collects the records of some psychotic christian lady who sings really scary songs through her ventriloquist dummy. And Tweeds doesn't say, "Shaddap", and give me a smack. Well, he did once, but then his wife smacked his nose with a newspaper and he cried. And then and then and then! I was like, "Kendra is my hero, because she's so big and strong!". Then I tried to join her costuming group and she was like, "Shaddap",...

In honor of the holiday I posted some stuff I found in an old sketchbook.

As for my costume, I am going as an outpatient. See, I had a procedure this past Friday and while I was laying there wistfully riding out my valium in the recovery room, it occured to me that if I stole the hospital gown, hospital socks, and kept my information bracelets on I had the beginnings of a possibly fun get-up. Add to that the fact that the nurses inexplicably left three of those vital sign monitoring patches on me and then a trip to Walgreen's (evil evil!) for a cheap make-up kit to draw a scar with lots of fun stitches down the middle of my face and voila! I am ready to party!

It occurred to me that there might be some sort of etiquette or protocol for linking to someone else's blog. I mean, what if Tweedlebop doesn't want to be associated with a guy who draws naked men commenting on each other's units?

Maybe Alina Chau will be so angry that I didn't ask permission that she'll threaten my life with a switchblade knife??

A friend of mine once told me how her sister buried her beloved stuffed bear, "Fudge", in the backyard of their childhood home and never went back for it. The story inspired this doodle which I did for a larf.

Oscar night!

The Oscars are stupid, but it's a good time to get together with friends and eat food and have a Cleavage Pool. Everyone has their own reasons for watching: red carpet fashion, making fun of celebs sporting weird hair-dos for some mid-shoot film project, Jack Nicholson mugging like something that fell out of a nest of cuckoos, and some even want to see who wins. Me, I am the demographic that is moved by the host of the show. I tuned in for Letterman and now will have my pale globular buttcheeks planted and ready to see what diminutive hero Jon Stewart will do with his chance at Oscar lampoonery. Just please, God, make sure Debbie Allen still has NO involvement with this show and I will be forever grateful.

I just found a new way to tell that I am getting older.

Know how you have to get free accounts and shit when signing up for something like the Rhapsody player plugin? Well, some of these have a drop down menu for choosing your year of birth. What's amazing is clicking at the top and starting to move down to find your year. Then you realize, all of a sudden-like, that it seems to be taking far longer than it used to. I can remember signing in or in the old days of paper questionnares (bet some 19 year old kid has no idea what a paper questionnare looks like) looking at the column of choices and thinking, "Jesus, what sad old bastard would be filling out the same questionnare as a young vibrant guy like me?"

Heh.
